Hi, I’m Griffin Koontz.

I am a recent graduate from the University of Miami with a BS in Computer Engineering - Software Focused. I am a passionate, creative, and driven engineer working to apply my knowledge to make an impact on business, technology, and the world. Since a young age I have possessed insatiable curiosity for understanding how things worked and an immense desire to create. These convictions eventually led me to acquiring a deep passion for computers and software, a field where the potential for learning and the possibilities for creation are endless.

My experience working in the industry as a SDE Intern at Amazon has provided me with an understanding of common industry standards and comfort with working on large projects with a team. While at university, I worked as an undergraduate research assistant where I delved into the field of object detection in underwater environments. I not only gathered and explored previous research but also contributed by annotating underwater video footage and performing fish detection using OpenCV, Darknet, and YOLO detection models. This experience allowed to me to showcase my ability to understand complex problems, perform research, and communicate my findings through the writing of a research paper. In my personal projects, such as Deadlegs, a web application for streamlining the charter airline business, I honed my web development skills and problem-solving abilities.

Beyond my technical abilities, I am passionate about photography and filmmaking, free diving, and surfing. These interests contribute to my creativity, adaptability, and ability to approach challenges with a fresh perspective.
